Celebrating Mental Health Matters: “Breaking the Comparison Trap” by Coach Debbie

Have you ever taken a personal assessment of your life and felt like you just don’t add up? You’re not where you want to be and you’re not even sure if you’re on the right track to get there. Then, you start to notice others and get stuck in the comparison trap trying to figure out why they are there- where you want to be and why you seem to be going nowhere.

Next, you start to pile it on-

More negative thoughts,

More worrying,

More pressure on yourself than you can bare.

Yet, this just leaves you upset and disappointed. Reality becomes apparent. You are not perfect and no one is. You can do this and the key to success is recognizing your progress. Progress is the evidence that you have tried and did not give up.

It’s time to stop being your own worst enemy and biggest critic. Stop pushing so hard to be perfect. Focus on progression. Focus on your potential. Focus on getting one step closer to your goal. Remember, patience and pacing are also tools to success- together, they keep you growing and moving into the direction of your goal. It’s time to break the cycle of the 3 c’s- no more comparing, complaining, or compromising your worth to strive for the greatness that God already has within each of you!
